John Paley


John founded the practice over 48 years ago and under his continued leadership the company has steadily grown to be one of the leading award winning architectural design practices in the north of England. John is involved in the design of schemes on a day-to-day basis, working with other members of the team to pass on his experience. John has extensive knowledge of residential layouts, new build, conversions and renovations.

Emma Wynne

Company Director 

Emma joined the practice in 1996 and is responsible for the company’s strategic planning and overseeing the day to day running of the business.

Vikki Sykes

Managing Director

As a chartered Town Planner with over 15 years of experience of planning, design and development, Vikki has now been appointed as Managing Director of JRP Associates. Before taking on this role Vikki worked as an Associate Director at JRP, managing projects through all aspects of the business with a proven track record of delivering successful outcomes through skilful negotiation and presentation. Projects include individual bespoke dwellings, public houses, industrial and commercial developments through to large mixed-use schemes.  Vikki therefore has extensive experience working with a variety of clients ranging from National volume house builders, landowners, agents and smaller individual clients.  Vikki has demonstrated excellence in client relations and is looking forward to driving JRP forward into this next era.

Laura Mepham

Director of Planning and Design

Laura is a Chartered Town Planner with over 20 years’ experience and has recently been appointed Director of Planning and Design. Laura joined JRP in 2004, prior to which she worked for a volume housebuilder where she dealt with all aspects of land and planning. Laura provides planning, design and development advice to a diverse Client base ranging from public bodies, through to landowners, developers and house builders. Laura’s extensive portfolio includes major residential schemes and large mixed-use development through to individual bespoke dwellings. Laura takes schemes from initial feasibility through to on-site construction and ensures she meets and exceeds all of her Clients expectations.

Lee Brown

Director of Urban Design

Lee is a Chartered Landscape Architect and an Urban Designer and has recently been appointed Director of Urban Design at JRP. Lee joined the company as Landscape Architect in 2003 and has since combined a portfolio of landscape work with masterplanning on larger developments. With over 20 years’ experience Lee’s focus is on balancing site opportunities with client requirements to create sustainable, vibrant and healthy places to live and work.  He has built strong relationships with many valued clients including national housebuilders, regeneration companies and individuals.


Thomas Sellers


Tom is a RIBA & ARB Chartered Architect with experience across multiple sectors including residential, industrial, and commercial.  Since joining the practice in 2017 he has worked on a variety of projects from large masterplans to small house extensions working from the initial conception through construction and to handover. His work involves a wide range of clients including national housebuilders, regeneration companies and individuals. He is dedicated to understanding each clients own specialist requirements to provide the best possible outcome for their projects.

Rich Nicholls

Senior Associate – Architectural Design

Rich joined the practice in 2004 and as such he is one of the longest serving members of the team. His role includes producing feasibility sketch layouts, planning layouts and construction drawings.

Steven Duquemin

Senior Associate – Architectural Design

Steven joined the practice in 2015 having previously worked in architectural practice on a range of residential projects.
His role includes producing feasibility sketch layouts, planning drawings, construction drawings and marketing graphics.

Kieran Mapplebeck

Senior Associate – Technical

Kieran joined the practice in 2005 adopting the role of architectural technician to coincide with undertaking a part time degree in Architectural Technology. Kieran is qualified as a Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor.

Louis Smith

Architectural Designer

Louis joined the practice in 2018 with over 8 years’ experience of working for a practice specialising in commercial, industrial and private residential schemes.
His roles include producing feasibility sketch layouts, planning drawings, construction drawings and accompanying graphical information.

Jack Payne

Architectural Assistant

Jack joined the practice in 2019 after completing his placement year working in the residential design sector. He is currently working towards his part 3 qualifications, having previously completed a master’s degree in architectural design at the University of Huddersfield.

Russell Robinson

Architectural Designer

Russell joined the practice in 2020 having worked for AJ top 100 architectural practices in both London and Yorkshire for blue chip clients. He has over 30 year architectural experience in the commercial, retail, hospitality and residential sectors on projects constructed utilising both traditional and off site construction methods, including modular student accommodation.

For over 15 years he has worked designing and detailing quality residential buildings ranging from one off bespoke properties and listed building conversions to multiple unit housing and apartment schemes.

Amy Tomsett

Graphic Illustrator

Amy joined the practice in 2014 having previously worked on large scale retail feasibility schemes and more recently producing architectural drawings and marketing graphics for Urban Design and Residential Developments.
