Some of our recent dwelling designs:

Pinfold Lane, Mirfield

We were asked by one of our existing clients to design a bespoke dwelling for an infill site located in the town of Mirfield. The site already had the benefit of an outline planning consent for a detached dwelling and as there was a variety of styles of architecture along the existing Lane we felt that a contemporary style of architecture would be suitable for this location.

Francis Street, Mirfield

Our brief for this constrained site called for a large, modern family home. We had to overcome many challenges including large changes in level, close proximity to other dwellings and a number of protected trees. The result is a dwelling which steps down the hillside with large open plan reception rooms which open out onto terraced gardens. The use of three dimensional design software throughout the project enabled us to maximise the sites potential and achieve a unique end product.

Handbank Lane, Lower Hopton

This design incorporates some green technologies including greywater recycling and potential for geothermal systems. The dwelling will have a modern feel with the use of timber cladding and render to be in keeping with the existing bungalow. The size of the dwelling maintains a high value amenity space for both the existing White Bungalow and the new property. The landscape features will remain and the provision of sky lights will enhance solar gain into the property whilst maintaining privacy levels. The provision of a dwelling within this location improves security and natural surveillance along Handbank Lane. This will be further emphasised through the provision of additional street lighting improving visibility.

Former Headmaster's House, Clifford

Restoration of the Grade II Listed Headmasters House and conversion of the Chapel, within the Conservation Area of Clifford. Development in some of our historic areas requires a careful approach. John R Paley Associates has a proven track record in obtaining planning and conservation consents, blending client desires, officer aspirations and good design and attention to detail to deliver schemes that make positive contributions to Conservation Areas and Listed Buildings. The development of this contentious site for a national house builder, involved an evolution from the Leeds City Council Brief, support from the local MP, close liaison with the Parish Council and Ward Members.

Private Dwelling, South Leeds

A private client approached us to design a large bespoke Georgian influenced house, to meet their specific requirements. Once the detailed design was agreed we gained planning approval and produced a full package of construction drawings, working closely with the building contractor on site throughout ensuring a smooth completion. We have since carried out landscape design and a further commission for the client.

Ling Lane, Newhaven

The objective of this development was to convert an existing house into a large attractive dwelling more in keeping with the type of houses situated in this prestigious part of Leeds. The existing building had been subjected to some poor extensions in the past. The external remodelling consisted of a new roof and render to hide the dated stone work, the garage block was rebuilt to provide new living accommodation above. Internal changes included and new feature staircase and the removal of key walls to give the client a modern open plan arrangement that meet both his family and social lifestyle. New bi-folding doors opened the house out to a new landscaped garden to the rear.
